Privacy Policy for Nearby

Effective Date: June 11, 2026
Version: 1.0 (App – iOS, Android & Web)
Developer: Clutch City AppWorks LLC · [email protected]

1. Overview

Nearby ("the app") helps you find events happening around you. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it. You can browse public events as a guest without creating an account; guest browsing collects no personal data.

2. What we collect

Account data. Email address, display name, and handle when you create an account. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication (Google) and are never visible to us or stored in plaintext. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive only the identity token needed to create your account.

Location. With your permission, your device's location is used to show nearby events and distances. Location is used on-device for these features; we do not maintain a history of your movements. If you deny location access, the app still works with a default city view.

Content you post. Event titles, descriptions, venues, and times you choose to share, with the visibility you set (public or friends-only).

Usage data. Basic technical logs (crashes, errors) needed to keep the service working.

3. How it's used

To operate the app: showing events near you, enforcing your visibility choices, and keeping the community safe (reports, blocks, moderation). We do not sell your personal data, and we do not show ads.

4. Storage and security

Data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore) with server-side security rules: friends-only posts are only readable by your friends, your reports are not visible to other users, and all traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS). Access in our team is limited to what's needed for moderation and support.

5. Your choices

You can delete events you've posted at any time. You can block any user, which hides their content from you. To delete your account and associated data, email [email protected] and we'll complete deletion within 30 days.

6. Children

Nearby is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we don't knowingly collect their data.

7. Changes

We'll update this page when the policy changes and note the new effective date above.
